One of the core elements of the EMAS regulation is the introduction of various forms of communication of environmental information to stakeholders. To facilitate this, the EMAS logo has been introduced.

The EMAS logo is a trademark of the regulation. Its functions are to:

The EMAS logo is a high value symbol which can be used as a marketing tool to disseminate the information about organization’s environmental performance.

There are three versions of the EMAS logo.

Version 1 of the logo indicates that the organization has an environmental management system in place that meets EMAS requirements. It is intended to inform the public that the organization is registered. It can be used on registered organization’s letterheads, information tables, invitations, web pages, posters, etc. The logo cannot be used on the organization’s products.

Version 2 of the logo indicates that selected information, to which the logo relates, has been independently validated as being accurate and reliable by EMAS verifier. The logo can be used with selected information from the environmental statement, or with other validated environmental information in adverts for the organization’s products or services, operational instructions, etc.

Version 3 of the logo can be used for promotion of EMAS by any stakeholder who is not an EMAS registered organization. The logo can be used on promotion materials, publications, manuals related to EMAS, etc.
