Promotion of EMAS in Poland - Information about project

At the end of 2004, Ministry of Environment started the project entitled "Promotion of EMAS in Poland – Technical Assistance" under Phare programme 2004S 165-142845, aimed at dissemination of information on EMAS in Poland.

The project was implemented by consortium of companies including Royal Haskoning (Holland), LEMTECH Konsulting (Poland) and SEI (Estonia).

The project aimed at providing training and technical assistance to organizations who wanted to implement the environmental management system in accordance with EMAS under a pilot project.

Additionally, representatives of other organizations who were interested in EMAS could gain the necessary knowledge during a series of eight 2-day training courses which were held all over Poland.

Under project activities, a wide promotion campaign was carried out which included such activities as: publication of articles on EMAS system in national newspapers and specialist magazines, participation in conferences and environmental fairs, outdoor advertisements placed at bus and tram stops (the so-called citylights) in 5 major cities all over Poland and development of a whole range of different promotional materials including leaflets, brochures, posters, polo shirts, cups, umbrellas, bags etc. There was also a promotion film produced entitled "Time fore EMAS" which encourages the organizations to get registered in EMAS system.

The Project officially ended up with a conference entitled "Readiness of Poland for EMAS Implementation" which was held in the Ministry of Environment on 15 December 2005.
